Welcome to my sample page designed to display student's progress through and the final drafts of their personal narratives. Below you will find a brief lesson plan and a list of objectives for this particular assignment. You will also see a sample set-up for how I would choose to display the exemplary work of students as they complete each objective.
LESSON PLAN and OBJECTIVES ~
Students will study the characteristics of an effective narrative and throughout a 9 week process, will apply those characteristics to writing a personal narrative of their own. Each lesson will be divided up over a period of one week and will focus specifically on one objective. The completion of specific objectives will be showcased as well as exemplary final drafts in order to display students' work throughout the entire writing process. - choose an important event to write about (Week 1)
- organize and plan their story, and compose a first draft (Week 2)
- include appropriate details, descriptions, and figurative language (Week 3)
- develop settings and scenes (Week 4)
- develop characters (Week 5)
- use language that expresses feelings and sensory appeal (Week 6)
- learn how to create and effectively use dialogue (Week 7)
- learn how to make successful revisions and complete peer reviews (Week 8)
- revise and submit the "most" final draft of a personal narrative (Week 9)
