A Room With an Overview
The above Wordle represents the vision and the heart of what you will find throughout the chapters and pages of my site. Below are a few pages that I have highlighted for you and hope you will check out . . . Enjoy!
The Life and Adventures of Me
To best understand where I am in my educational journey, you may want to first check out my About Me page. Here you will discover my three greatest passions, and you will see that even though I am not currently teaching in a classroom setting, my love for learning remains constant, and my vision to be a 21st Century teacher is continually being modified.
All's Well That Begins Well
My Teaching Philosophy page will give you an inside look at the four "C"s of what I believe makes an effective teacher. My philosophy emphasizes the importance of life-long learning, igniting a "want to" within the heart of each student, helping them discover and become successful in their strengths, and opening students' eyes to see the pleasures and enjoyments of literature.
The Road Not Taken . . . Until Now
The main purpose of my site is to highlight the importance of giving students a voice by allowing them to showcase their authentic work. My Digital Poetry page offers a sample of how I would fulfill this vision. This page is also an example of how literature and technology can merge to create an authentic learning experience for students.
Creating my portfolio has been challenging at times, but fun. I have especially enjoyed finding creative ways to bring glimpses of literature into my site, such as turning my headings into chapters and tweaking the titles of famous books to fit as my page titles. One of my greatest challenges was creating an interesting philosophy page where the text was not overbearing. My goal became finding a way to break up the monotony of the text, so that the "heart" of my philosophy would stand out. My goal on my digital poetry page was to find a simple way to display students' digital poems, I was very excited to add a video carousel to this page. While this may be a simple task for "techies", it was a proud moment for me. Finally, my greatest goal is that you will find something valuable within these pages to either use within your own classroom or to use when creating your own e-portfolio. Have fun looking around!
